Natural Hormones

natural hormone replacementNatural hormones, or otherwise known as bioidentical hormones are hormones that are molecularly identical to the hormones produced in our own bodies.

Our bodies don’t see the difference between the natural hormones that are supplemented and the hormones it produces by itself. As a result, bio-identical hormones are properly utilized, and are then able to be naturally metabolized and excreted from the body. Giving you the benefits you need, without the side-effects that most people fear from synthetic hormone supplementation.

  • Natural hormones match your own hormones exactly (are bioidentical).
  • Natural hormones leave the body more quickly than synthetics, thereby not posing the same health risk.
  • Natural hormones don’t have the side effects of standard HRT drugs if used at the proper dosage.
  • Natural hormones are natural mood enhancers; progesterone can provide this benefit, while progestin can’t.
  • Natural hormones can be individualized and custom tailored to meet individual needs.
  • Natural hormones don’t interfere with your own hormone production.
  • Natural hormones don’t have the same long-term risks as synthetics, and are therefore much safer.
  • Natural hormones can prevent and reverse osteoporosis.
  • Natural hormones can relieve perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.
  • Natural hormones restore hormonal balance to the body

Adrenal Stress Hormones

Abnormal adrenal function can alter the ability of cells to produce energy for activities of daily living. People who have a hard time rising in the morning, or who suffer with a low energy level during the day, often have abnormal adrenal rhythms and poor blood sugar regulation.

People who suffer from adrenal fatigue frequently have erratic or abnormal blood sugar levels in the form of hypoglycemia.  In fact, nearly all patients who have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia suffer from some degree of adrenal fatigue.  The decreased adrenal function causes the person to have more issues with allergies, asthma, arthritis pain and a decreased immune response.  Most women who have low adrenal function have more premenstrual tension as well as increased difficulty with menopause.

Thyroid Hormones

Many people have a thyroid gland that cannot make enough thyroid hormone for the body’s needs. This is called Hypothyroidism and may be caused by a non-functioning thyroid gland (for example Hashimoto’s disease), by destruction of thyroid gland by surgery or radiation treatment or  by a non-functioning pituitary gland (see Hypothyroidism Brochure). Hypothyroidism, is the most common reason for needing thyroid hormone replacement

The goal of thyroid hormone treatment is to closely replicate normal thyroid functioning. Thyroid hormone is necessary for the health of all the cells in the body. Therefore, taking thyroid hormone is different from taking other medications, because its job is to replace a hormone that is missing.

Female Sex Hormones

Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, brain fog, decreased sex drive, fatigue, hair loss, poor memory, sleep problems and anxiety – all symptoms of menopause, right?  Well you may be correct, these are all common symptoms of fluctuating or changing hormone levels.

Replacing and replenishing these hormones allows your body to function normally and optimally, thus avoiding all of those symptoms that affect your day to day life.

Male Sex Hormones

It’s not just women who experience hormone disruption.  Men thrive when they have balanced hormones.  The most important male hormone is testosterone.  When testosterone levels begin to decline, or when estrogen level begin to increase – thereby altering hormone balance – men don’t feel normal and their health begins to decline.

Testosterone is the primary male hormone produced by the testicles.  It is the hormone that causes you to increase your muscle mass, deepen your voice, improve your strength, controls normal brain function and is a significant part of your libido (sex drive). Our approach to male hormone imbalance begins with a comprehensive history and physical.  This allows us to identify specific areas of your health that may need attention and focus our efforts on these points.
